I mean, the place is currently in such a state of disarray, how could it go anywhere but up, eh? It appears that as soon as the DR floors were finished, that space became the warehouse for the entire building, while the other floors - except the lobby - were vacuumed and sanded and stained. The yellow pine floors looked great though, when they were still visible. Work in the kitchen continues - including the installation of the ceiling by the Men On Stilts, the wiring and plumbing, and the storeroom wall. The drains went in at the bar - that's the picture where you see Forrest and Calvin checking out the progress there - and the ductwork appeared on the ceiling. The Booths and Banquettes are taking quite a beating however, as the last picture shows so sadly. We hope the clean-up of the vinyl is successful...and I surely hope that Mr. Kaplan never sees the horrendous treatment his product received during this process; but if he does, I would assure him that the crew at Warfel will have it all looking like new in no time.
Meanwhile, we continue with the hiring of a staff, the planning of a menu (always the big topic of conversation), the meeting with purveyors and salespeople and dealers, the driving to Dover to pick up lights, the phone calls and emails to arrange for telephone and electric and gas. The fact is, what's a few weeks in the face of years? When all is said and done, that old saying is all you've got, you gotta squeeze a few lemons to get the lemonade. Well, we're certainly squeezing some lemons here and by this time next week we hope to get a little taste of sweet lemonade. We'll raise our glasses and put all this torture behind us, as we get onto the Adventure ahead.
