This is what the kitchen looks like now, even as we speak. That's all the booths and banquettes and bar equipment in there now, under their plastic covers. And where are all the chairs? they're on the deck. And why is everything jammed back in the kitchen? Because those dining room floors are getting done today, instead of last week when they were scheduled. And who is going to move all that stuff back where it belongs? and will it survive all this jostling around intact? Those questions I can only speculate the answers to. But it's an absolute mess in there now, and only getting worse. In a perfect world we wouldn't have had our stuff delivered before the building was ready for it, but in a perfect world the building would've been ready as promised when we made the arrangements for the delivery of equipment. I tell you, we will be so glad when this is all over and we can simply get to work. If we weren't sure about whether or not we'd ever open another restaurant, this sure decides that. And whoever takes over from us, in ten years or so, well they won't be getting any sweet deal like the last two did!! We'll make them PAY for our frustrations, eh Randy? (ha ha?)
Meanwhile...I hope that I'll be able to get some pictures at the end of the week that show a little more promise. Actually, as far as frustration goes, this should be the worst of it. Get that DR floor done, finish the bathrooms and the lights and the electric and put that thermostat in a more realistic place. Hook up the plumbing and the gas, the phone and the computer, the heat and the security. We'll be good-to-go in, what, a day or two? Week or two? Month or two? God only knows. At least now we can say "this month" instead of the usual "next month" when people ask when we will be opening. I sure hope no one makes liars out of us!
Who ever thought this Blog would be at this stage one year ago today?
