Lunch at the Crossfire

Lunch at the Crossfire Cafe was on our schedule Friday and it was a very pleasant task indeed. We got there a little before noon and were quickly greeted by our friend Vickie who was on the floor with her daughter Susan and waiter Courtney. Vickie worked with us for many (many) years at the Ironstone Cafe back in the day and she has always talked about having her own spot someday. She made her dream a reality last week and we couldn't wait to check it out. The place looks great. Vickie and her crew did a superior job updating the Dining Room with solid colors of green and yellow, lots of very interesting art on the walls, and a cozy fireplace against one wall. We opted for one of the loveseat couches toward the back, with a view of the front via a big mirror hanging over the sideboard, through which we could see Janes Church on Cross Street, not to mention everyone coming into the place as lunch began in earnest. Our usual deal at mid-day would be the bar at the BlueBird or pizza at Proc's - lunch at Julia's on Wednesday not withstanding! - so this foray into the white tablecloth world promised to be a real treat.
